My nephew was born with a serious heart defect and the doctors were not able to circumcise him at birth. Now, three years later, my sister and her husband have decided to have him circumcised. I strongly oppose this idea and would like to construct and arguement to save the child. What is your opinion on this matter? Signature under construction.

I was against doing it to my son at birth, But at age 6 he had a problem with tightening of the skin etc, where it had to be done. It's a contenscious issue, I see it still as cosmetic surgery in most cases. Regardz Colin J Davies Attention: Watch this signature for an upcoming announcement that will affect you.

Only the most ignorant of fools support the idea of circumcision. Or, you could try and word it differently. Maybe suggest that the man consider how he'd like to have that done without any sort of painkiller ( I assume that he's been done, or he wouldn't be so ignorant ). Or perhaps tell them that kids can't remember anything before they are 2, and as he is 3, he's bound to remember the trauma they are about to subject him to for no good reason whatsoever. Do you believe that in all cases of child abuse ? Seriously, circumcision is child abuse. In Australia, most doctors will refuse to do it, unless you're a Jew. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Actually, now that you mention it, I saw a Cosmo cover the other day, and the feature article was advising women on how to deal with the first time with a guy who has a weird penis, and the cover said something like 'crooked ? bent ? hooded ?'. Man, if a mans magazine came out with a similar story, they'd be burning their bras in the streets. There's surely a lot of women reading Cosmo who would be upset if their partner read something equivelant. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Yes, I believe you're right there, but it's a concept as outdated as the idea of shaving a woman before she gives birth, and keeping the husband in a different room. :-) Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder
