Missouri vs. Ku Klux Klan

This[^] is why free speech issues are so complicated. Missouri is now left with only a handful of options. Among them are renaming roads adopted by the KKK after civil rights advocates. This has proven to be effective in the past. After the Supreme Court rejected an earlier appeal Missouri lawmakers renamed one stretch of road to recognize Rosa Parks. The KKK refused to clean that stretch and was removed from the program. But, it's not feasible to rename every road the KKK adopts. So, it appears the most likely alternative is to abolish the program altogether. Sad isn't it? Since Missouri is obviously trying to discriminate against the Klan feel free to add comments on other government sponsored discrimination programs (affirmative action, scholarships, grants, tax breaks, etc. to minorities) if you wish.

Honestly, i don't have a problem with KKK members walking along busy roads picking up trash. Out here, we make convicts do it, but if Missouri can stick it to hate groups, then more power to 'em. Unless they're lighting it on fire, and throwing it at motorists, what's the problem?

Dusty, wind-blasted roads for many, many miles. And, eventually, "adopt-a-highway" signs. Can't remember who was doing the adopting, but to clean twice a year on that stretch of road, you'd have to let me build my own sign and charge tolls to move it off the road... It's been years since i've been in Missouri, though the memories i have certainly aren't favorable to my opinion of their roads. Let's face it, the state doesn't spend a lot on 'em. If they can keep them reasonably clean for the cost of a couple signs, then maybe they can afford a little extra gravel for the potholes...

Do they accept UK driving licenses in the States? If you're implying that you'd run one of them over, then how are you any better than them? I think the KKK is stupid mind you, but why is it wrong for them to hate based on color and ok for you to hate based on creed? I mean, you don't have to agree with it. That's what freedom is all about. People can choose their own lives. If they happen to choose a stupid one, then that means they are stupid. Be grateful you're not and get on with life. Jeremy Falcon

I guess in short, you should judge based on the individual rather than the group. I mean, on the same level I could say all Europeans hate Americans because I may have noticed a few bad mouthing them.
