I am curious as to what most people design to in terms of minimum screen resolution - i.e. what is the minimum resolution at which the entire WIDTH of your page will fit in a maximized browser without a horizontal scrollbar (assuming no sidebars like a history window are open). I realize that 800x600 is probably a best case minimum, but I find it a little difficult to realistically design a complex page to fit that resolution and tend to use 1024 as a minimum. I don't think that is unreasonable in this day and age of fairly large monitors. But I am curious what other people think is the minimum they should support. Thanks, Robert

I'm currently building a large scale web app and we had this discussion some time ago. Our targeted clients are young, wealthy (:-O) and its a portal-type of application with large amounts of information on almost every page. We decided to start out with 1024*768. I believe it's a question of effort. If its close to impossible to design for 800*600, leave it. If not, there is no reason to not support lower resolutions. regards! /matthias

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
