For me, having an MCAD and MCSD has helped me to get my foot in the door at a few places that I have worked. If you are a contractor, it can also help to justify a nice high payrate :) I had a manager once that said that he would definately keep someone's resume with a certification over one without, but that it would not be a deciding factor over two people that were interviewing.
