"But the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency reckons it has solved the problem by merging liquid and solid state lasers to cut the size and weight by "an order of magnitude," according to its Web site." :wtf: Advanced weapons research is published on their web site? Americans are crazy. :)

It's a focusing laser, so past the apex of the beam it all depends on the range of the item being fired, and the power of the laser, atmospheric scatter, in air particle profile and a few more varriables.
