Flat Panel LCD and KVM
-
I just got my new Dell 2001FP flat panel, but I didn't think about hooking it up to my KVM. Yes, I have to use the analog output, but that's okay. My question is, is it okay to switch between resolutions on an LCD monitor using a KVM just like I currently do with my old CRT? Two of my machines run at 1600x1200, while the other two run at 1280x1024. Are there any adverse effects from switching around like that? Is it just as safe as doing it with the CRT? Dumb question, sure, but it's a nice new monitor and I don't want to ruin it. Thanks, Jon Sagara As you may presently yourself be fully made aware of, my grammar sucks. I shouldn't think there'll be a problem. Your flat panel can only do one resolution anyway - in your case 1600x1200. All other resolutions are resampled up to 1600x1200 by the monitor itself. Your picture quality will be best if you use the native resolution. Presumably your older machines can't actually do this resolution? Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder
