To anyone attending the MVP conference, or who lives in the general Seattle area, who would like to get together for a bit this is the place to post ideas. The ideal time would be for dinner and drinks on the 27th of september, the day before the conference is supposed to start. If anybody knows of a good restuarant/lounge where everyone could meet speak up please. Lets firm up the date, time and location so people can make plans.

I'm totally there ( obviously, I've been ranting about this for months ). I have no idea where is a good place to go, quite obviously. I'm in town next Monday at about 3:00 PM, so I'm open to any ideas from that time on. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Hey PJ I am coming too - but on a very tight schedule. I'll land there on 28th night (Flight lands at 8 PM) and will leave on 2nd morning (Flight leaves at 8:15 AM). I think some of the nights are booked for dinner with the product teams, but last year 2 nights were kinda free - I am not sure what dates those are right now, but it'd be cool if we could meet up then. CG may know better. Nish

Hey CG I'll be there :-) Since we are both VC++ MVPs, it's easy to meet you, but meeting PJ is tough since I am on a very tight schedule :-( But if one of the nights is available, it'd be cool to meet him :-)

Anyhow, I remain blissfully unaware of what's going to happen in Seattle, on almost every front. Do they split us up beyond the main streams ? i.e. will the C# MVPs be in a completely different stream to us ? I'm really keen to hear more about WinFX more than anything else at the moment ( because I know all about C# 2.0 and ASP.NET 2.0, but I've not had time to do much WinFX yet ). Nish, The only two nights I can be in the area are the 27th or the 28th, not both. I have a very important lunch meeting on the 28th, and have to be home by noon on the 29th (chicks coming). So if we do meet on the 28th, somewhere either near the airport or your hotel, you may clear customs in time for drink. Or do you clear customs elsewhere? The last time I was in Seattle was 20 years ago, so I have no idea about what restuarant/lounge would be a good place to meet. Hopefully someone with that knowledge will speak up soon.

I am not sure - I have been told that since I am travelling from Toronto - the immigration clearance is done there and that once I land in Seattle I just walk out - like from a domestic flight. But there may still be some formalities to be done - not sure though. I also have no clue how long it'll take for me to reach the Hotel. My hotel is :- Doubletree Hotel Bellevue 300 112th Avenue SE Bellevue, WA 98004 But I reckon I should be at the hotel before 10 PM. So perhaps a good place to meet would be somewhere near the hotel at 10 PM (we could stay there till midnight I guess). Any Seattle folks here? Maybe they could suggest a restaurant that's nearby.

ccording to this[^] your hotel is 25 minutes away from the airport, so you should be there by 10 pm. For some reason it seems that the three of us, you, Christian and myself, are the only ones who want to meet. Seems kind of weird that none of the many locals or other MVPs who frequent this site have responded so far. As Christian is already on his way and will not see this until he gets to Seattle he is now out of the planning loop. So I say we meet on Wednesday the 28th of September for dinner and drinks at a restaurant in Bellevue, close to your hotel. I say 7:00 pm for dinner, and anybody who comes into town can later in the evening can join us as the evening progresses. If we can find a restuarant/lounge that open til 1 am that would be perfect. I am almost tempted now to send a private email to one or two people who I know are local to just get a restaurant recommendation, unless someone speaks up in the next 24 hours or so. It is kind of difficult to arrange this if no-one responds with any ideas:sigh:

Well, if no one else turns up - there's still 3 people from 3 different continents - one from Australia, one from India (Asia) and one from Canada (North America). It can't get more **continentally** cosmopolitan than that, can it? Unless we can get Paul Watson to show up too :-) BTW Mike Dunn may make it too - though I believe he is staying with a cousin rather than at a hotel. Nish

Wednesday night is fine for me (I haven't looked at the MVP schedule lately - hopefully the summit doesn't go that late). I'll take a shuttle from the conf. to Nish's hotel. I don't have a laptop so I won't have my own net.access... I'll probably be able to bum someone's laptop for a few minutes at a time to check this forum, but just in case, you can reach me on my cell at [baleeted]. I'm flying out of LA tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon so I'll be settled in my hotel tomorrow evening. Anyone's welcome to call if you want to meet up. :) --Mike-- Visual C++ MVP  LINKS~! The ideal time would be for dinner and drinks on the 27th of september, the day before the conference is supposed to start. If anybody knows of a good restuarant/lounge where everyone could meet speak up please. Lets firm up the date, time and location so people can make plans.

                                Location: Rock Bottom Brewery

We meet for dinner at 7:00 pm. Anyone who comes into town later that night (Nish) can join us when they get into town. The place is open until 1:00 AM so I am planning on staying till closing unless everyone else leaves sooner. Anyone who reads this and wants to come, please respond so I know how many people. If the group gets too large I may have to make reservations.

Plan looks good to me, PJ. I presume you have a cell#, so could you please mail the number to nish#voidnish.com [unless you don't mind posting it here in public]. If I can call you, it'll be easier to sync up once I get out of the airport.

Nish pointed me to a review of the Brewery and it said they have loud music and allow smoking, so I won't be going there. Nish

Nish, there is an MVP dinner on Wed night, and Mike is talking about meeting on Wed. I was assuming we'd meet tomorrow. Do you want to call Mike to see if that's possible for him ? Is it still OK for you ? Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

I am all for meeting tomorrow, but Nish is not coming in til Wednesday, that is why I thought Wednesday would work better. Also Mike does not like the idea of meeting at the Rock Bottom as I suggested below. I am open to anything, Just someone make a decision. My decisions don't seem to be the right ones.:sigh:

Well, on Wed, they have a dinner, and they are having 'MVP idol'. I've put my name down for a song already, so I can't skip it. I doubt there is any room for us outside of tomorrow :( Unless we have lunch on Wed ? The registraton is late Wed, isn't it ? Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
