how to list in google search result

hi all, we have a web site containing so many pages.. how can i list our web site in google search result page.. i added all the meta-tag in every page and registered in google crawler ..but still it is not listing in search results.. what are the steps to list a web site or pages in google search.. ple help me ..it is very urgent.. lal

thanks for ur answer.. i did all registering the url and all before 3 weeks ago..still it is not searching..what is the significance of sitemap..that we have to give or not..pls give me a detailed reply.. thanking you..
