http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/01/senate.iraq.ap/index.html[^] I'm curious to see if anything will actually result from this. A quote from Bill Frist made me laugh out loud: "The United States Senate has been hijacked by the Democratic leadership," said Majority Leader Bill Frist. "They have no convictions, they have no principles, they have no ideas," the Republican leader said. This is the pot calling the kettle black no matter what side of the political spectrum you sit on. -J

Think of a computer program. Somewhere, there is one key instruction, and everything else is just functions calling themselves, or brackets billowing out endlessly through an infinite address space. What happens when the brackets collapse? Where's the final 'end if'? Is any of this making sense? -Ford Prefect

      Bill Frist sniffled:

The United States Senate has been hijacked

a closed session is hardly a hijacking. but, i'd like to see the GOP defend the idea that the Senate shouldn't investigate what went wrong with the WMD intel. i mean, it's not like they or the White House have anything to hide, right ? wouldn't they want to reassure Americans who think the WH mislead the country about Iraq's WMDs (since they are, after all, the majority of Americans) that nothing unethical or unseemly was done ? you do realize that there has already been a Senate intelligence report that said the WMD intel was flawed. It is grandstanding pure and simple. the left is frustrated that Bush is again on the rise because of a now solid SP nominee and the fact that the left didn't get a Fitz borne present last Friday. For what it is worth, I'm pleased. This drags the Democrats farther and farther to the left, call'em Sheehniacs, and is devisive as all hell. Diminishes the Democrats even more. bulk? this is phase 2, not the bulk. I am okay with continued investigation but face facts, the Reidy tantrum today was pure theater.

really? has it changed since 2004? time will tell. who knkows, maybe I'll owe you next time around, but I wouldn't spend it just yet.

No, I agree with you. I'm all for accountability. I'd be a monstrous hypocrite if I weren't. But if it is approached with all the intellectual dishonesty of the 9-11 Commission hearings it isn't worth the trouble.

if they do it is a function of the dishonesty of teh media and teh Democrats. For starters the Church Committee, years ago, stripped us of on te ground intel capability (call'em spies), so we relied on that level of intel as provided by other nations. Everyone knew that Iraq had WMD because we all sold it to them. Massing troops on the Kuwaiti border for a couple of weeks and being denied entry via the Turkey border certainly didn't help keep the stuff in country (if it was there originally - before you say it). Point in fact we've found Sarin gas as well as a ton or more of nuclear materials - the press just doens't choose to publicize it. Look it up. but forget all that and focus on today and last Friday. First, the prosecutor deliver what the Democrats wanted. This morning the New York Times called for Cheney's resignation (we laughed), the Democrats are confronted with a nominee they don't want but can't stop - so dusty old Reid throws a tantrum, Schumer goes into his usual histronics and their dancing idiot Durbin pants in front of cameras. do you think Roberts would've proceeded with the investigation without prodding ? cause, he's had a year and half, and he hasn't done it. in fact, he's said he doesn't want to bother. so, if this isn't the way to make him proceed with what he said he'd do, name another way. calling it "theatre" is a lazy way of trying to change the subject, which is the GOP's two years of ass-covering and excuse-making. America wants answers not silly GOP manuevering.

Actually not BS, however, it was all the stuff that the UN had been monitoring. So What they found was everything that we, and the UN already knew about and knew where it was. So we rediscovered what was already known, just reannounced it. It took us almost a full year to find everything that the UN already knew was, and had never been moved. Unfortunately, we broken open some of the seals and spilled some of the radioactive materials (luckily none of the other stuff) in our "zest" for credit of the discovery. You'd think even we would have more sense than to break giant yellow UN radioactive seals, but then military and intelligence have never been known to go well together.... _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
