Who in their right mind would give this woman a restraining order?:wtf: http://apnews.myway.com//article/20051221/D8EKP1JG3.html[^] She said he asked her to be his wife during a televised "teaser" for his show by saying, "Marry me, Oprah." Her letter said Oprah was the first of many code names for her, and that the coded vocabulary increased and changed with time. :suss: -J
Think of a computer program. Somewhere, there is one key instruction, and everything else is just functions calling themselves, or brackets billowing out endlessly through an infinite address space. What happens when the brackets collapse? Where's the final 'end if'? Is any of this making sense? -Ford Prefect

chances are no one did. That is, the office signed it without reviewing the document. It is very easy to get a temporary restraining order in NM, basically by her lawyer claiming she was in "danger for her life" she would get an immeadiate restraining order until the time that the case goes to court. Otherwise known as a temporary restraining order. No judge signs it, but it is stamped by the judges office. What we do not know at this point and what is not filed in the public record until the hearing is what she wrote to the judge's office in an affidavid. It may have absolutely nothing to do with the reality of the case, but be carefully worded to guarentee a temporary restraining order. Basically if you have a lawyer already, you can get a temporary restraining order because the lawyer will limit the data to just the right things to raise the red flags to get the order's approval. If she has abused that, she will pay court penalties when it reaches court, even if she decides to settle the case out of court at this point (or stop the court process), the judge will have to review if the temporary order was used properly. That being said, it is easy to get a temporary restraining order, impossible to enforce, and worth less than the paper and the ink it is written with. What protection orders are available in NM[^] _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. That clears it up. That makes a lot more sense. Now we just have the woman's lawyer to talk bad about. :) -J
