the Olympics... Who really gives a sh$t

what a waste of $$$$, time, $$$$ if only this much effort,hype and money was given to cancer/hiv/etc... research, or things that just matter more ironic, that countries, can't house they're homeless, but can spend $1.3 billion on a bunch of games, then turn around and say "doohhh we got no money" Bode Miller fails to finish first run in men's slalom >> do you really care Canada's men curl to Olympic gold medal >> do you really care Finland, Sweden to play for hockey gold >> do you really care to summarize, who gives a shit. may the olympics bring peace and sportsmanship to the world Crude-oil futures soared after thwarted attack on massive Saudi oil facility. This is BS. If you say that for the olympics, you can say that for everything. OK, let's turn everything off until we have fixed every problem in the world. No party anymore (why be happy because others are suffering), no sports, no arts (yes, art is expensive), no cinema (yes, making a movie is expensive), etc... We cannot stop living because others are in the mood, that's life. I spend money, I help local associations when I can, I vote for the people that are wanting to change things, and that's what most of us do. I love olympics, I am a great sports fan, I particularly love biathlon, ice-hockey, I love the olympics atmosphere, I find it awesome to see the best athlets in the world competiting two weeks long, it is simply great. So read my advice : dismiss your internet connection, and give the money you spend in it every month to cancer research, you'll make both the medical research and us happy. ~RaGE();

Cricket is not so popular in Scotland. We mostly view it as a quaint English sport. ColinMackay.net Scottish Developers are looking for speakers for user group sessions over the next few months. Do you want to know more?

5 for your post off topic: Since I don't see French who love hockey everyday, does Cristobal Huet get some media coverage in France?

Well, he's started to make a name for himself as a starter for the Montreal Canadiens. And with the announcement that Jose Theodore will be out for 6 weeks with a cracked bone in his foot, the playoff hopes for Montreal rest squarely on Crostobal's shoulders. I'd love to see him win 17 of the last 25 games the Canadiens have left. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] When I want privacy, I'll close the bathroom door. Well, I know him :) ( I personally find him awesome :-O ). He's been very popular a few years ago (when the french team had had surprisingly good results), but I cannot really say that he ever had much media coverage... ~RaGE();
he's almost on his way to become mayor of Montreal if he keeps up and the team makes the playoff La Marseillaise is even played at the arena :) here's an article about the last game before the Olympic break that might interest you: http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20060212/CPSPORTS01/602120553/1002/CPSPORTS[^]

oh I know :-D I grew up in the Montreal area and pretty much have red white and blue blood cells :-D I'm now a Habs fan living in Sens territory... it's a tough year. Been a Theo fan since he played junior here, but even I have recently given up on him and I'm more and more impressed with Huet's game every start he gets. Go Habs Go

hosting a olympics or any other events like worldcups, etc. brings in lot of tourists money, generates employments, tax money and host of other things. so lot of ppl gives shit to olympics.

I understand that Montreal is still paying for theirs, 30 years later. I live in the UK and I'm not looking forward to having the Games hosted here in 2012.

Very coincidental. I was born and grew up in Montreal. I even got to play hockey in the old Montreal forum. :cool: Although there weren't 18,000 screaming fans at the time. :) I can't wait for this movie[^] to be released. Chris Meech I am Canadian. What's snow got to do with the Olympics? Or are we talking about the Winter Olympics or something like that here? If so, then man, I gotta read the newspaper more I guess! :~ Regards, Nish

Yep, from the sports listed above, it sounds like the Winter Olympics. The Summer ones were last year in Greece. Where have you been Nish? :-D
