You are very, very close... Two days ago I spent a considerable amount of time working on something. I had files opened in VC++ (including a worskapce containing a series of projects that that I'd finally got to work together), PSP with various "helper" images in it, Fireworks with an unsaved "release" image in it, and notepad with about four different CP message typed out ready to post. Then I made a change in one of the programs to change the screen resolution (D3D) and hit run. I move my mouse over the 'button' and click... nothing.... nothing.... nothing. I try CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then choose task manager, but DI did not release the mouse, so I couldn't move it. After much shouting and cursing the mother of the father of the chairman of Microsoft, I gave up and hit the reset button on my case. It was late, so I went to sleep. Yesterday in the evening I set out to repeat the last night's work. I recreated the workspace, spent the best part of three hours tweaking it to get the projects to compile and link together, and then set about building the "helper" images (hand made sreen shots so I can get the interface pixel-perfect). After another hour or so I have something that vagely resembles that of the night before. So, I go back to VC++, hit F7 and then run the program again. As soon as it starts, I click on the change resolution button again. Ten seconds and a frantic failed CTRL+ALT+DEL attempt, I lower my head to my desk and cry like a baby. Why me? Hey? What the f**k did I ever do to anyone? ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "DON'T MOVE! Spent $500 bucks making a ton of minor repairs to my car. Got it in tip top shape. Nothing wrong with it except needing a wash. 3 days later a rock breaks my windshield. For some reason I wasn't upset. I found it more funny than any thing else. Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

James T. Johnson wrote: Hope today is better Today (yesterday) was better, thankfully, as finally got everything set up correctly and saved it. The first thing I did was to remove the offending lines from the main program before I forgot. Today (today) was not much better. I've just spent three hours rebuilding my home PDC componenet by component to track down something that was faulty (rant: dammit - why does the machine have to talk in meaninless streams of beeps? You'd think in today's world they'd at least use some form of speech synthesis - "Good morning David. I'm afraid the fan on the graphics card needs unblocking again. Maybe you should consider getting a better system fan?"). After paintstakingly replacing everying as it was originally, it started up first time. If I were sitting at my desk I would have lowered my head and cried like a baby again. I've been doing a lot of that recently - I've just given up fighting with it. I'd add "Hardware manufacturers" to my hate list if they didn't supply my livelihood. Then again, I'd add "users" and "bank managers" too... ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "DON'T MOVE!
