My four year old daughter clicked on a banner ad for Bonzai buddy and the darn thing took the liberty of installing itself on my computer and setting itself as the home page for my browser. I had to uninstall it, reset my web page back to where it was, and then run a five minute spyware scan on my system, all over one little click! Are there no laws prohibitting this kind of arrogant business practice? If a door to door salesman came to my door, let himself in and started setting himself up in my home, routing through my personal stuff as he did and using my phone he would be jailed! Why is the internet exempt from privacy laws? Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

The only way I see to to sop these companies is for a large group of users to get together and Sue the pants of these businesses. Just in case you are not aware there is a good free program called adaware that cleans these programs from your system. Regardz Colin J Davies

Can't the enforcing agency just click a banner ad and if anything is installed without asking commence proceeding to press charges? I want a law passed where Spam companies who sell email address lists must financially compensate the people on the list whenever they sell their addresses. I suppose if we all copyrighted are email addresses that would work. "You've sold a publication that contains copyrighted material. You must compensate the owner of the copyright however much $$ he or she chooses." This would put the spam industry out of business, if it was properly enforced. Either that or at least we would all have a healthy supplement to our incomes. I don't know I'm not a lawyer or judge so I can't really comment, But I imagine The net being International things would get difficult to process claims all over the world. etc. It would be nice though if some system would indeed work . Enough with laws! We've got too damned many as it is:mad: Refuse to do business with companies who host such garbage on their websites, and make sure you let everyone know who the offenders are, then let nature take its course. I was one of the first to jump on those handy X-10 devices, and was looking forward to completing the set. But I refuse to do business with them because of their advertising practices. I'll extend the same treatment to any company that allows the BonzaiBuddy clickthru on their website!
