True, but disarming law abiding citizens is not the answer. It would create more problems. The Revolutionary War began with resistance to gun confiscations (sp?).
To be honest, I don't know what the solution is. As long as there are guns (regulated or not) you're going to have gun crime. Regulation, de-regulation, whatever. I think the problem is larger than that.
We should take away knives to prevent knife crime, too.

No, it has more to do with gangs and illegal mexican immigrants, which buy their guns off the black market anyway
But how is that possible when they make up only 12% (your figure) of your population. Don't those figures strike you as odd? So, 12% of your population is responsible for all the chaos in America? It has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to simply go buy a gun. That's the answer then? So, illegal Mexican immigrants who work to support themselves illegally by earning less than minimum wage and send most of the money back to their families in their home countries have pockets bursting with spare cash to buy illegal arms on the black market then? How can you explain the difference between gun crime in Canada (with gun control) and gun crime in the U.S. (no gun control)? We have lots of illegal immigrants too. Surely if it was them then both countries would have soaring rates of gun crime, no? What about that situation? How can you explain that?

They are actually trying that in England. MOΛΩN ΛABE

But have they considered spork crime?

Interesting how people like you are so quick to criticize all christians because of a violent video game, but will not criticize Islam after its followers kill people daily in the name of their religion. When is the last time you can remember that christians killed a group of people with a roadside bomb, or flew airplanes into a building killing thousands of people? MOΛΩN ΛABE

when the cities with guns banned (like washington DC) have the highest gun crime rates in the nation
Could it be that criminals know that the citizens are unarmed in these cities banning guns?

I'm actually thinking I might buy some beachfront property in Florida in about 9 years. The National Weather Service is predicting about 10 years of violent hurricanes (no...there's no relation to global warming). By then everything will be so battered that property values might be low. They'll skyrocket after a couple years of no hurricane weather!
A very recent BBC TV Documentary (in association with the Discovery Channel) suggests that if the global warming turns out to be as bad as predicted, Miami would be a city 50 miles from land, and that the Florida Everglades would disappear. Your beachfront property could be some place that is currently 50 miles inland. ;P

As predicted by Al Gore? I'm willing to bet a few hundred thousand against those crackpots.

In the UK at this moment there is a "knife amnesty" where knife owner can anonymously surrender such weapons. Even though this is in progress there is well reported knife crime (deaths etc) occuring in the UK. So removing knives and guns is an admirable policy, in practice, it is just the tip of an iceberg and is doomed to failure as those who commit such crimes are not going to surrender their weaponry.

No. Eminent scientists from the United States, from UK, from Canada and so on. The TV program I was referring to is entitled "Can We Save Planet Earth?". It was a 2 part documentary transmitted Yesterday and last week, each one hour duration. Presumably you might look out for TV listings in your country. I think you will find it very interesting.

Contrary to the claims of the BBC and Time magazine, for every "eminent scientist" that claims global warming is an impending disaster, there's a more reasonable "eminent scientist" (who already has his funding check for something else) who disagrees.

Left Behind: Eternal Forces[^] Imagine: you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is "to conduct physical and spiritual warfare"; all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven by a purpose: you are 13 years old. You are playing a real-time strategy video game whose creators are linked to the empire of mega-church pastor Rick Warren, best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life. Sickening! X| How can people who claim to be followers of Jesus, and who claim to know their Bibles, promote this kind of cr*p in the name of Christ, the Prince of Peace?? I know the answer but I am still incredulous, even though I have known for some time that there are 'Christians' who think like that.
Of course, you could wait for some sells figures to arrive before using it as yet another half baked rationale to pretend your anti-christian bigotry has some merit. Besides, this game was probably written by another anti-Christian cretin such as yourself for the express purpose of giving other anti-Chrisitan cretins such as yourself a good reason to spread your sanctimonious, hypocritical outrage around the internet. I would bet that there is not a single authentic religous organization behind it. "You get that which you tolerate"

The thread is so big I can't find sub thread origins to post on  [Which religion is more violent - thread] I killed you less so I win! Could someone please create a Web Religious Murders Counter so we can put this question to rest. [Gun control - thread] We need a law requiring everyone to carry a gun. We can even enforce this law on fetuses thereby solving the abortion issue simultaneously.

How do you cut your steak?
Steak in this country is too damned expensive. Yes cutlery is fine, as is other knifes, including cleavers, used for cooking purposes. But a Bowie Knife, a Flick-knife, ordinary pen-knife, swiss army knife, other "exotic" knifes, and domestic cutlery are not permitted to be carried upon the person going about whatever their "normal" outside-of-their-home activities. If convicted (I think) a 2 to 4 year prison term is awardable.

I don't know about that. I find that a rather pessimistic view and I don't just mean that in a religious aspect.

People have tired of waiting 2,000 years for Jesus' imminent return. Religion has stagnated and has largely outlived its usefulness, other than providing a basic moral framework which the religious either ignore or twist to suit their own purpose.

We're still working on finding some Christianity-backed killings.
