Has anyone noticed that a large number of the posts can be answered directly from a minimal search of MSDN, CP or Google? It seems like there are some folks out therer that turn to the forum as a first line of inquiry, with no attempt to solve their own problems. It also seems like there are some folks trying to use it as a free programming service. They pose problems, but will only accept code for an answer. :suss: I'm seeing more and more of this stuff here and on thatother popular code site. I realize that we are all free to just not answer posts that seem frivilous. I guess I just wanted to rant for a minute. Its been a long day. ;P I know I haven't been specific or sited examples or statistics to prove my point. But, just cause I'm lazy, Doesn't mean I'm wrong! Thanks for the rant, I feel better now. :) Bill

When I ask a Qu on a programming forum, I feel kinda embarassed to turn there for assistance, and live in fear of it being answered by a reference to MSDN. Regardz Colin J Davies

Some people have a lot of bad luck with search engines. I can sift through 20 pages of useless crap and someone can find it right away on a search. Sometimes they are looking for someome to recommend something, like they want to now what other people use and like. I realize this does not cover all of those posts but a few of them. -:suss:Matt Newman / Anti-Linux Activist:suss: -Sonork ID: 100.11179:BestSnowman

Why waste a cute, friendly racoon that way? Cats are much more plentiful, and better suited to the purpose.

I would make some witty comment along the lines of "I'm not letting you stick your potatoe peeler in my pussy", but then I decided not to. Oh heck, that didn't work did it.

Try not including words like "boobs", "porn" and "hot goat lovin'" in your searches. It helps reduce the useless stuff. JUST KIDDING!!!! :) Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

I've noticed this too. I don't tend to mind these kind of questions in the forums as I can skip them. It is when they turn up in my email box that it annoys me most. I don't mind answering questions but I'd rather do it on a public forum where everybody can see the answers. (And point out when I'm talking complete rubbish) Michael :-)

I could have created a cool signature brought to life with complex interactive DHTML, but I don't like to show off.
