    this is the code i am using CWnd pParent; pParent.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE); i have designed a custom title bar and placed a bitmap as a minimize icon. but when clicked nothing will happen.

      This hides the window. You can use pParent.ShowWindow(SW_MINIMIZE);

        Is that the actual code? If so, you're creating a local window class object, and hiding it. You're not hiding the parent window at all, since that object isn't the parent window
