How To: Map logical drives onto Physical Hard Drives

I have a typical problem. I have to find out the total free space available on a hard disk on a system having multiple hard disks. There doesn't seem to be any clue as to how to go about doing this. I thought of getting info about each logical drive present in the system and then summing them up together. But it's not been possible for me to figure out which logical drive corresponds to which physical hard drive. Please let me know if there is any work around for this.
