TweakUI?
-
TweakUI allows you to "hide" certain drives. To avoid the potential for modifying files on my Vista partition when I'm in Win2k, I've hidden drive "N" (my vista boot partition) in Win2k. Can I do the same thing in Vista? (hide the win2k boot drive). I also want to re-assign drive letters so they match up with the drive letters that are specified in win2k. Considering the problems I'm already having with dual-booting, I'm hesitant to a) boot into Vista to begin with, and b) implement any of the items described above. Anyone care to comment?

"...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001Use the HD Manager in 'Administrative Tools' to assign/re-arrange the drive letters. You can also disable a drive from there, but if I remeber TweakUI 'hides' the drive, though you can still access it using the drive letter. There is a registry trick to do this, but I will have to find it again as I have forgotton. This[^] is the trick to hide drives, though I haven't tested it on vista. -- modified at 7:50 Friday 8th December, 2006 This may be of some interest. There is a TweakUI like tool for vista here http://www.totalidea.com/content/tweakvi/tweakvi-index.html[^]. I am donwloading it now, but it's gonna be a while before it completes ( 11mb @ 2 k/s ) :~

I know how to assign drive letters, but I'm deathly afraid it will somehow screw up my win2k install.

The drive will always be there, but vista won't be able to access it ( not sure about file system checking while it boots though ). Check my prev post, I have provided a link to TweakVI though I haven't tested it yet.
