Soldiers of God

I don't want to throw oil into the fire, but: Concerning yesterdays discussion of Jihad, some people especially tried to explain to us the great peacefullness and humanity of a certain religion. I would like to hear from you what you exactly think of these Soldiers of God[^] in one or two sentences. (Very interesting is the section "Activities"). Marius

If you believe that an Islamic state cannot wage war you are severely mistaken. Islam can be applied at several levels, and at the state level, it provides stipulations and guidelines on war.

- How did you find that website. There seems to be many things wrong with it (the least of which is that hardly any links on the homepage works) 2) If I am not mistaken, this group is not active in the conflict against the occupation. These were the guys who were portrayed as the missing link between the former regime and who ever was the scary person/country of the year.

Not quite. You asked what the word 'jihad' meant and it weas explained to you: both at the personal level and the state level. You did not ask for any opinions, and the information you were given was a lot more accurate than most you will find in this forum.

The first paragraph from the link you gave gives a fairly concise summary of what I think they [Soldiers of God] are: a radical Kurdish Islamic group who carry or carried out mass murder on behalf of terrorist and political organisations. You can freely substitute their name for just about every terrorist group on the planet and not change that. Where is the topic for discussion?

I appreciate this, and this thread was not meant as an offense ! I would like to explain to you why I occasionally give comments with which not all people - maybe especially muslim CP'ers outside the oriental culture - are comfortable. I do not have anything against Islam per se. It's a religion that was brought by God to the oriental culture. (As christians and muslims believe in only one god, my opinion is, that it must be the same, and he gave different cultures the form of religion that suits them best). I do NOT say that one of them is superior to the other. So: As long as the different religions stay in the culture they are native to, I have absolutely no problem. The problem for me begins, when these cultures begin to mix by immigration. Currently our european culture is , yes, flooded by more and more muslim immigrants that do not, and even do not want to, be assimilated or be a part of our western culture. Why, for gods sake, do they then come here ???? The result is, that some kind of muslim enclaves are building up within big cities, like e.g. in Vienna. And from this enclaves which grow bigger and bigger, they start oppressing rights from the christian majority. More, more and more, till one day we won't have a christian culture anymore but a muslim one. Everyone that dares say something about this is immediately declared as ultra right. (politically speaking. Also by some sheepeshly stupid minor political parties of the own country). It seems that the major parties don't have an opinion on this problem at all. And the parties that have an opinion and want to end this, are not electable - at least for me - for some reasons. I would like to give you one example: Since centuries we have the tradition that Santa Claus comes to chilren on 5th of december to bring them some little presents. (Mostly chocolate, nuts and such things). This tradition is also carried out in Kindergarten where the kids are really looking forward in joy to 5th of december when santa claus brings them their little presents. And now, this year, Santa Claus does not come to any Kindergarten in Vienna, because there are also muslim children in the various Kindergarten, and muslims seem to be offended by thi

I understand what you are saying, but I don't believe you can put all of the anti-Christian political correctness (PC) today down to Muslims or any other religious group. Most of the 'banning Christmas from the workplace so as not to offend' instances in this country -- the UK -- are brought about by ultra PC people with no religious faith at all. That's not to say some religious festivities aren't being banned for offending other religions, rather than for a perceived offence, but I think the biggest cause of problems is the do-gooders trying to make everyone get along with each other all of the time. They are like a dog owner who doesn't realise that giving their pet treats all day long will kill it. The Santa Claus thing you talk about is a classic example of this. Multi-culturalism is one of those things that worked fine before it was PC'ised. Look at the mass immigration into European countries after WWII - not all but many of those communities have integrated flawlessly into ours, and few people would claim we as a whole are not better off because of it. The main problems now are because it is considered 'incorrect' to require immigrants to adopt out culture, after all what right can we possibly have to ask them to abandon theirs? It is ludicrous, and it is and will always continue to bite us in the arse until someone has the guts to stand up and say "either integrate, or emigrate". Multi-culturalism is being given a bad name by the very people who claim to be protecting it. Locally we have a large population of Muslims from Middle Eastern countries who live here and work in our factories along side native locals. without exception they love Christmas because of the celebrations, and send each other cards and share the festivities with our native Christian and non-religious citizens. They see Christmas as just another festival, and enjoy it as such. I suspect the fact they came here to work and support their families back home, rather than bring their families here, has a lot to do with their acceptance of our culture: They are guests on our hospitality and they are behaving with the manners and respect you would expect them to.

"Ansar al-Islam recent activities include: razing of beauty salons, burning a schools for girls, and murdered women in the streets for refusing to wear the burqa. It has seized a Taliban-style enclave of 4,000 civilians and several villages near the Iranian border. It is also responsible for ambushing and killing of 42 Kurdish soldiers" You really have to ask what any sane person would think of these assholes?
