I've got Office Ultimate here (using the ISO downloaded from MSDN) and I'm trying to install it on Vista Ultimate. The Office installer keeps prompting me for the location of Outlook.en-us\(something).cab and I keep telling it E: (which is the CD drive). But it keeps asking over and over and doesn't seem to be making any progress. Has anyone gotten this to install? I didn't do anything weird in the install wizard, I just unselected stuff I wouldn't use like Groove and InfoPath. Edit: well the progress bar is at about 60% now... I've had to respond to about 20 prompts so far, but it's slowly making progress. Edit2: I gave up :( I dunno how the setup could be this borked. Edit3: I ended up unzipping the ISO to the hard drive and running it from there, which worked fine. whee.

Maybe the same guys that did the VS2005 SP1 install did the Office 2007 Install...

I had that same problem only with the Rosebud.en-us setup. I re-downloaded the ISO and that fixed it for me. Maybe you have a slightly scratched ISO which would explain why it worked when you extracted it to disk...

Wouldn't a scratch affect the hash of the ISO? I'm positive the hash matched the value on the download page. Maybe it was scratched at the factory...

Good point. Maybe you had some dust in your ISO driver? I find they sometimes get clogged up with hair and sandwich crumbs.

I believe that would be Heath Stewart, big time CPian who's now working at MS on MSIs. I know he did work on the SP1 install, but I don't know if he worked on the Office 2k7 installer.
