Does anybody know how to either uninstall IE7 and reinstall, or perform a repair (usually an installation option)? All the references I can find on google, and even the release notes, only refer to uninstalling after upgrading from IE6. But as you know, with vista, there is no IE6 to roll back to. I remember with XP, under the add/remove programs, you could select the installed windows components and perform the repair from there, but there appears to be no such option with vista.

I would have replied with a thanks earlier, but the earthquake in Taiwan has prevented me from doing so. Even now, the only way I can access the web outside of mainland China is via a HangKong proxy server :~ I wanted to repair IE because I was being plagued with pop-ups, but I couldn't find the source of the problem. The repair option was unsuccesfull, as was Ad-Aware. Strange thing is, after using this proxy server, the pop-ups have stopped

I had a problem with a Vundo type virus that managed to get under the hood of my operating system such that it was invisible to my browser. The symptom was unstoppable (meaning my changing of settings had no effect because they were changed back) popups when a browser was inuse. I saw it by getting a command prompt during startup and navigating DOS-style to the Win32 directory. If you upgraded perhaps you had a problem, otherwise it sounds like you found a similar "Vista compatible" spy-bot. Also, some anti-virus programs actually prevent you from changing settings like your homepage so perhaps your antivirus is preventing you from repairing IE7. I hope my thoughts are useful.
