Singapore ministers get 60 pct pay hike to $1.3 mln[^] This is simply insane. :mad: How can they benchmark their salary against top earners in the private sector? It is about running a country, not running a business. :mad:

It depends, do you want your national leadership to be as capable as your corporate leadership, or composed of either those who don't have the skill to rise to the top of business leadership or are sufficiently independently wealthy that they can afford the major salary cut that results from public service?

Sadly, no. They drilled for some in the 70's, but they got something like 2 barrels out of that project. Norway has a lot of of oil, but those cowards are hiding behind NATO's skirt...

That's where the problem lies. Their mindset is too business-oriented. They are the CEO's, chairmans, director or whatever whereas the people are their employees. If the employee can't perform, they throw you aside and import foreign talents. These people elected are to run the country and serve the people, not the other way round.
