It looks like there is a good chance there was a BBC film crew[^] aboard the Lynx that was meant to be providing overwatch for the Cornwall's boarding crew. Add to this the fact the Iranians say that a Channel 5 report[^] influenced their decision to take hostages and it really starts looking like trying to turn what remains of the Royal Navy into a floating episode of Big Brother may have had serious consequences.

Kind of shows the idea of "embedding" reporters with troops (or sailors) might not be a good idea.

Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

A family member of mine was stationed in the Persian Gulf during the first conflict - his ship's exact location was at the time classified. The cover was nearly blown by an overzealous newscrew who discovered the location of the ship on a flyover and tried to start broadcasting.

never heard that one, I knew about the F117A's that took severe damage from unaimed flak over bagdad because some $@#(*&$ reported the takeoff times and gave enemy air defense an effective raid warning as a result.

-- CleaKO The sad part about this instance is that none of the users ever said anything [about the problem]. Pete O`Hanlon Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know about users?
