I just visited the soapbox for the first time today & I think its the right place to get some feedback on a question that has often troubled me: I am not a religious man, but when selecting a religion to follow, how do you choose which one is the 'right' one? They seem to be largely mutually exclusive & generally threaten dire punishment for anyone caught following a 'false' one. I would be worried that I had picked badly & despite all my hard work was only making things worse in worshipping a false idol. Is this the sort of issue that religious types wrestle with often, or do most people just take a hope-for-the-best attitude? Any comments gratefully appreciated...

He is just mad because everyone is getting tried of his lack of maturity. No one wants to feed his bad habit anymore.

What point are you trying to make?

Jesus contradicted himself.
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces - God (Malachi 2:3)
Okay, show me the contradiction.

What good is a sword if you are to "resist not evil"?
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces - God (Malachi 2:3)
How does an orange tree produce a watermelon? It can't. Why would you want to debate on something that is in two different context?

I think the point of Matthew 10:34 is that his coming is going to cause derision. People will fight and argue about him (like you are fond of instigating on this very forum). Not that Jesus came with swords to pass out to the believers so they could kill people who wrong them. So... Mat 3:39 tells you what to do, and Mat 10:34 tells you what is going to happen because of Jesus. This is not a contradiction. I can tell you "maintain control of your car at all times" and then "ice causes cards to lose control" and that is not a contradiction.

Quote: Not that Jesus came with swords to pass out to the believers so they could kill people who wrong them. Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

He could have also added if you have shoes put them on, if you have a shirt put it on. You are still trying to compare two different contexts. I know you are trying to be witty but you are making yourself look dumb.

I expected that you would have some canned answer for my post, either that it was different contexts, because humans can't fully understand the word of God, or whatever else you heard your sunday school teacher say.

The thing that's interesting to me is that people would bother taking the time to try and find places that Jesus contradicts himself, without bothering to take the time to actually read what they are quoting. It's the same as giving someone who has never used a computer a copy of 'The C++ programming language', and asking them if C++ is a well designed computer language or not.
Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

If you are a good boy, you ask daddy. If you are a bad boy, you ask daddy what he hates most.

I don't know of anyone who would do that. If you are trying to suggest that I haven't read what I am quoting, you are wrong. I have read the entire new testament, and anyone who would believe such contradictory superstitious nonsense as the truth has mental issues.
