So Mourinho is gone, and Chelsea are in deep sh*t. Abramovich has ruined them. The fools, if only they'd asked me, I would have told them never to sell to that Russian numskull in the first place. Man U will pay the same heavy price in good time, as will Liverpool, and the Arsenal are on the brink of making the same mistake... selling out to rich investors is all very well for short-term monetary gain, but these guys have egos to match their bank balances and know diddly-squat about the game. Mark my words: English football is on a slippery slope to oblivion; watch as Drogba and half the other stars at Chelsea go to Spain or Italy; and watch as the other big names from other big clubs move abroad too. Theirry Henry didn't even wait for the sh*t to hit the fan - he's seen it coming too. Shame. Fred

until i see a man hit another so hard that it makes them retarded, soccer isnt real football... (im looking for the link to the story, its a really old one, but basically a linebacker tackled a man so hard that it literally knocked him to an IQ below 80... ok fine, he only broke his face and caused the man to have reconstructive surgery which included a large metal plate where his eye socket should be... -- modified at 11:09 Friday 21st September, 2007

We've had plenty of quite serious injuries in soccer - we don't pad ourselves up like Michelin Man before we start playing.... I remember (wy back) seeing a photo of the great George Best taken in his shorts just after a game - he was covered, literally head to toe - in briuses, boot & stud marks, and cuts - and that was just an ordinary game. It was quite a scary photo (two actually, front and back.) Still, if you want that, there's always rugby. Or boxing. Football (let's go back to basics here shall we?) = foot + ball... get it? Fred

You did? You're a genius! half the referees and players today don't even get it. Not their fault, it has to be said, but that of the powers that be that have so screwed around with it that no-one really understands it any more.

With all that TV money, the game is awash with cash. And people go where the cash is so I suppose that the beautiful game has a fine future in England.

I notice your USA ladies team are playing England's ladies tomorrow in Womens World Cup. For some reason, your ladies team have a good record in this tournament.
