You're supposed to "take" or attend a seminar or you're supposed to be giving the seminar where you're talking about the subject?? If you're standing up onstage talking about the subject matter, you're not going to be prepared from reading a couple of articles. You really need to have the experience behind writing actual code to see how this stuff works.

First of all, this is the wrong forum to post in. This forum is for people submitting ideas for articles. Secondly, as other people have already mentioned, you really need to pick up a book on basic programming concepts and read through it since it should answer almost all of the questions you have been asking lately. Finally, if you are supposed to be giving this seminar you really should decline. The concept of functions is one of the more basic concepts fundamental to any procedural programming language. If you don't already understand what they are and how to work with them there is no way possible for you to talk about and educate others on the subject.
