Quicken Money

Not sure where to ask this......but if it should be in a different board, let me know, I'll move it. (This forum has the highest no. of viewers I think, therefore I'm posting here). Ok, I've been considering buying a personal finance software, since doing everything in Excel is getting a bit tiring and cumbersome. Not that I am too terrible at VBA, but implementing every feature I need was fun only initially. Now it's just a pain. I've cut down to Microsoft Money Premium 2008 and Quicken Deluxe 2008 as my choices (duh!), but I'm not sure which one I would go for and why. (any other good ones you know?) My requirements are personal, as I don't run a small/home business. I have some investments in place, but they are no big deal, really, so tracking them isn't necessary as well. If anyone here has had experiences with both the products, it would be great to hear! Thanks.
ASP - AJAX is SEXY. PERIOD.

There are plenty of freeware and open source applications for personal money managers without having to spend lots of money. A quick search of SourceForge gave this result http://sourceforge.net/search/?words=personal+money+manager&type_of_search=soft&pmode=0&limit=50[^]

Naaaaah, with all due respect to opensource and freeware tools (which I use so often and admire), I think for this one, I'll be walking the commercial path. Perhaps I've become a little biased, but I'd prefer to pay up for a little more assurance of quality and support. No offense meant to opensource enthusiasts......I am one myself.

You'll hardly find an objective/non-biased opinion about anything in The Soapbox, but I'll try it, anyway. I use Quicken, I like it a lot and highly recommend it. I read somewhere that Money stores your information in a Microsoft server. If you prefer data security over privacy this is an asset. If not, it is a liability. When it comes to usability it is very hard to find a very meaningful difference between them. The single issue that might make the most difference is which one works with your bank, stock broker, etc. If you have support for both then buy the cheapest of them; both are very good.
Of all forms of sexual aberration, the most unnatural is abstinence.

While I agree with the axiom, "You get what you pay for", I don't believe that "Paying money will assure good quality or support". :)

For example, DeLL!
"Surely you know what a blue-plate is, man? They shove the whole meal at you under your nose, already dished up on your plate -roast turkey, cranberry sauce, sausages and carrots and French Fried. I can't bear French fried but there's no pick and choose with a blue-plate." "No pick and choose?" "You eat what you're given. That's democracy, man."

Don't tell me that Dell are still giving you hell. Thought you got your earlier problem sorted?

No, no. I've been finished with them for quite some time. I just like to take every opportunity to point out that their "customer service" is less than acceptable. It's my hope that somebody from Dell will read this forum and do something about their "quality", or lack thereof.

No, no. They will send you a stern letter of demands, one of which stating that you will not be permitted to make a decision about the quality of their customer service. Then the letter will continue telling you how great Dell and their customer service is. Then they will be so bold as to tell you that you should be ashamed of your self to thinking otherwise.
