Working with photos

If I have to store a set of photos for each user, is it good to save those photos in the database or keep separate folder for each user for those photos
You can use either Database to store or You have to store only extension in database and give user id as file name to photo of every user.

It depends on the database space you have. If you have good database space, keeping images in database won't be a problem. Also it prevents users accessing image file directly typing through URL.

if you store image in database then image will store as a binary format. and while retreaving the image it may cause losses of quality of image. i can prefer you to store image in a folder and store the corresponding path in database and retrive from it. I have written article on it . please check on my article section.

Hi navanteeth, Can you kindly inform me that what would the best apporch to search data from Active directory. i have to implemnt a Address book like OWA . and AD contain more that 1 laks data so any idea ? Thanks in advance !!!

I am sorry, but I don't have any idea on this. I have seen your original post last day, but I don't have an answer for this. Have you tried MSDN forums ?

yup. i have post the same question in asp.net forum on active directory section. but the response which i have got that is , they are using one DB and seaching is done from DB. on schedule job will update DB from AD. But i dont want any depenecy with Database server. Main problem is the huge data. Thats whay i am thinking making it like OWA 2003. where first user will give input and Address book will manupulated those data from AD only. What do u think?

That would be better that porting it to a DB, AFAIK.
