I would like to see an article on setting up svn on a LAMP with the twist that code is on a windows box IDE. I already have seen the article on svn with windows - but not using a linux box as the server/repository.

      Have you tried http://svnbook.red-bean.com/ ?

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Yes, of course. I have in fact installed svn on linux using Apache. But getting it to work properly from a windows box on my local network is my real question. So Perhaps some intrepid power user that has done this successfully could write a small article.

I do not well understand the question (the twist?) but the good answer for svn under Windows is certainly tortoisesvn

I do use tortoise svn on my windows box and it does communicate to my Linux setup (now after a lot of iterative work). I also have used eclipse with the subclipse plugin and it too works ok. My point was that there are articles on setting up svn using LAMP and the assumption is usually that the user also is on the Linux platform. More useful I know for Code project (being MS windows oriented) is that a svn implemented in LAMP on an older model computer (i.e. recycled windows box now re-invigorated with a LAMP os) is an article showing that when a user is on a windows platform how to get their code into and out of the svn on that LAMP box! I did some research and found no articles that did a good job if at all. So this is the challenge to the readers: get your writer's cap on and provide an article. Cheers

Well, When I have an old PC and I want to give it a second life, I install automatically a Ubuntu linux LAMP in 10 minutes and it makes me a perfect subversion server... Why do that under Windows..? But I understand it may scare non linux people.

So you can create an article then? If it only takes 10 min to install the ubuntu it should only take you that long to talk about the process AND to discuss how a windows based coder should use that svn on the ubuntu?

What is it you are after? If you want to use SVN on Linux from your Windows machine, I believe there is a SVN deamon which you could then connect to, but I think things get tricky when tunneling through SSH via plink.exe.

I'm finding the only constant in software development is change it self.
