The Digital World. It is an amazing place in which we primitive humans interact. Our flesh made this synthetic machine. You see, we are so smart, we know a lot of stuff. We were grown from cells that came from the universe, which the matter and physics I'm typing in it is amazing how the universe is working. Human life is very amazing. How I experience this sh*t its like wow.

Congratulations. You now have as much money as many CPians make in six months (some in less, some in more). Of course, in another six months they'll have made that much again, though the odds of you winning a second time this year are rather dismal - a bit like your life.

A fool and his money are easily parted. So assuming he was fortunate, it won't last him long. Wonder how many bottles of cough syrup that sum could buy?

Don't encourage him. As Josh reminded me, it's vaguely possible the idjit (as opposed to the ilidjit) might go out and drink a hundred bottles. We wouldn't be responsible, of course, but it's still not nice. (I can't find the angelic smiley)

Agree, but then, he has previously ignored good advice (and ridicule) from myself and a variety of CP members. So I fear that no matter the advice given he will do his own thing. That $50K (about equiv £25K) has the capacity to do a lot of good. And as he is young, he could buy a good college education, invest the rest in high gain low risk investments, and after a suitable period of hands-on experience, he could consider going solo.

Not over here. 50K is at best 2 years of a decent private college - probably covers all 4 at a state institution, many of which are excellent, but not the equivalent of MIT, or Harvard, or Boston U.

*grin* yeah, if he has won money, that's nice, and he could spend it wisely, but even if he did, $50k is not enough to change your life in any major way nowadays. PErhaps it's a house deposit, but you still need a job to get a loan.

Do you really think I would spend that much money on DXM? My DXM is around a 30 dollar a month habbit.

That money is taxed, and then they buy a bunch of expensive coffees and tofoo. So its not like someone who lives simply making 100k a year, to me I could buy a laptop for everyone in my neighborhood, and still pay bills.

You're right, I feel so sad and empty to have to earn that sort of money, instead of relying on the lottery to provide it for me. If you won, congratulations. But, seriously.... it's not like you're in a room full of people who will never see that much money in one place. I'm sure most of us are paying off houses for a start.

You're right, I feel so sad and empty to have to earn that sort of money, instead of relying on the lottery to provide it for me. If you won, congratulations. But, seriously.... it's not like you're in a room full of people who will never see that much money in one place. I'm sure most of us are paying off houses for a start.

Let me know if the burden becomes too much. I have a couple of charities I'm really close to that would be glad to accept a donation ;)

Big deal, all that matters is that I can drive places, eat, do the things I enjoy, and whatever else. I don't need some big fucking house with plasma screens. All I need is a good laptop, a car, my music, a few cool gadgets, and whatever. I have all that and then some.

Nor do I, but I like having one. But, that's not really my point. My point is that working, and earning money, gives me the freedom to have things I'd like, to travel, to support causes that matter to me, and, most important, to create security for me and my family. What will you do when you are of retirement age ? I intend to keep working part time, for fun, travel a lot, have money to support my grandkids, and basically kick back and enjoy myself.

I just turned 21, do you expect me to have some kind of saving plan for retirment? I just enjoy having freedom and all that comes with it.

I would have hoped you'd have a saving plan for your first house, at least. I expect to meet mostly smart people, on a programmers website.
