MS Access VBA command entry problem

Hi All, When I try to enter a command in any of the modules in a MS Access database, the command turns RED. It also constantly moves the cursorn to the left leaving NO spaces. Trying to enter a command such as DoCmd. will open the popup window and then immediately close, and the DoCmd. turns RED. Please tell me what is causing this. The database functions properly, but entering new code is a real pain. Thanks Gene
