I'm trying to install the beta of ReSharper 4, for VS 2008, but I keep getting the error below, with a different file name. Has anyone else experienced this with any other installations?

"Error attempting to read from the source install database: c:\windows\installer\a471c8.msi"

The reason I'm asking here is that I suspect this file is a temporary file created by Windows Installer itself, and that the problem is not attributable to JetBrains, but to Vista and or my setup. [Moved to Vista forum by Ed.]

I remember the same exact error with another occurring on Vista x64, but I can't recall the program that caused it. It wasn't ReSharper, anyway. Unluckily, I can't even remember the solution to the problem...

Could be that your download was corrupted. However, Lessmsierables[^] is a utility that you could use to inspect and extract msi files. Anyhow, how did your tracing presentation go?

I downloaded it again, and it seems to be progressing better than last time just installed fine.

Cool, thanks. I'll check it out.

It was mercifully postponed until next week. That will give me time to write some useful and impressive little trace listeners.
