OK, I give up. UAC is now disabled. For goodness' sake, Microsoft, what are you playing at? Yes yes, I know the theory, but... if anyone can resolve this for me I will think about re-enabling it and trying again... So I make a folder under C; called "MyFiles" and assign every permission to every user I can find... read, write, modify etc... this is MY folder where I can do anything I want.. right? Wrong. I have Foxit PDF creator installed as a virtual printer. I go to "print" a document via it and save it in c:\myfiles.... "You do not have permission to save in this location." @&*!!##&!!!

You better use a common directory as "C:\Users\All Users". Turning UAC off is lowering the security.:~ A hack would be to run your process as administrator.

When I set up my Vista and created my account I told it I was also the Administrator. I also disabled the guest account, so my account is the only one on this computer. For some third party applications I still have to right click and 'run as administrator' to get done what I need. Hope that helps.

Me too - I am the only user, and admin, but still... I have Vista sussed - apart from a few driver issues (maybe - in fact I have no issues there but I know ithers do) you can solve all Vista problems by turning off UAC. Which, to all outward intents and purposes turns it back into XP, which most of us survived quite happily on for years. Don't believe all this security nonsense. Just stay away from dodgy porn sites and don't open spam email and you'll be fine. It's like little old ladies being afrtad to go out for fear of being mugged... go outside, granny, you'll be fine. Just don't talk to starnge men! Talking of email security I am amazed that still, in Outlook, the reading pane is turned on in the Inbox by default. That has got to be a security risk, surely? I turn mine off and delete anything with a suspect subject line there before dragging it into another folder ("My Inbox") for reading. UAC sucks, and that's and end to it.
