OK, I started with my HP AMD 5000 dual core. I replaced the mobo and CPU and RAM with an ASUS mobo, an AMD 9950 - 4GB DDR8500 RAM and yeah, added two ATI 4670's in crossfire configuration. I decided to try doing this with the existing OEM install of Vista Home Premium on the HD. Heh, yeah, well, I guess I LIKE pain. So, after a bit of tweaking (all nighter), I get the thing to boot, and load Vista, not in safe mode anymore. All appears cool, except that my RAM appears to be running at 400Mhz and I can only see two cores in Task Manager and all of the AMD/ASUS tweakage/monitor apps. When I tweak the RAM to 1066 from the AMD app, box won't boot. Why should I have to O/C RAM to run at its actual spec?!? When I do it from BIOS, it's ok. The BIOS POST screen shows 4 processors. Now, I know that doing a heart/lung transplant on a Vista machine is dicey @ BEST, but the Vista install is on a recovery partition of the original HD and I just KNOW that it will not work to restore the box with a new mobo etc. sigh... If anyone has any info/suggestions, I would be happy to hear them. Tkx, theRykster
