Hi everybody, I just received a MessageBox !!! which contains these contents: The page at http://defense-live-scan.com says: ATTENTION! If your computer is struck by the spyware, you could suffer data loss, erratic PC behaviour, PC freezes and creahes. Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer! Antivirus 2009 will perform a 100% FREE and quick scan of your computer for Viruses, Spyware and Adware. Do you want to install Antivirus 2009 to scan your computer for malware now? (Recommended) And it has a Yes/No button! I was using FireFox and searching Google and suddenly this message appeared! Do we have anything named Antivirus 2009? Does behavior have a U inside? What happened if my PC get Creahe? Did anybody receive this message before? Is it a Virus, Spyware or anything...? What should I do? Thanks...

I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was Man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying? -- Rumi[^] My blog

I've seen something like that before. I have no idea what it is or if it's legit, nor do I care. I also don't know if selecting "no" will still try to install something. I'm just glad I'm using Vista so I'll know if something is attempted on my system :) Good luck, and click wisely :)

Don't know where you have been visiting, but most YouTube video's are fine, it must be some of those other sites you must have visited such as - cracked software sites - adult sites - you get what I'm saying? You personally may not have visited them, but, somebody using your computer probably has.

I just received the same message only for Antivirus 2008. It also takes you to defense-live-scan.com even if you say No to the scan. It's hard to get out of the loop but I finally managed. I too was Googleing in Firefox. I clicked on a search link and whammo - got the message. And no, I was not searching the porn sites or anything else seedy. I'm looking for a pump pressure switch for my well. I had AVG doing a complete scan of my computer and it only found the normal tracking cookies. I don't think my computer is infected but the web site I visited was.

I would like to point out for the good of anyone interested that this website you are talking about, regardless of how it happened to harass your desktop real estate, is an absolute waste of processor cycles from word one. I do not even use windows at home, I am currently playing in Ubuntu and have enjoyed Fedora and Debian Linux before this so my personal convenient confirmation of the worthlessness of that site is the fact that the supposed 'progress bar' on the top of their page lists the directories it is claiming to scan and seeing how they could not see the directories on my system from code in a web browser to begin with it was no surprise to discover it pretending to scan Windows system directory folders. I will point out for inescapable clarity that Ubuntu does not have those folders, unless you were really bored one day and made them just to look at and confuse yourself. This type of scam has been around for ages but I guarantee it is nothing but a scam at best and goodness knows what unfortunate events would befall any one misled enough to actually go along with that website.
