Hate and Anger
-
Over the past few years, all I could see and feel about me is hate and anger. Its just that hate and anger. Almost all of it is undirected at anything with nothing being the root cause and everything is to blame. I'm [almost] 29yo and when I see a 16yo pissed off at anything and everything I think to myself a teen trying to rebel. But when I see a phenomena that is spread to teens, adults and even grown men, I start to think. And this is not limited to the Arab world. It was there in China 3 years back, its there when I talk to my cousins in Canada, Lebanon, the US, Australia, its there in the forums online and its there in the actions that are happening all around the world. I ask why and I fear that this will grow worse.

Humanity is depressed and miserable. We have two hour daily commutes, one hour lunch, and work eight hour days. We go home, have dinner, spend a few hours with our kids before putting them to bed, then have to repeat all this for the rest of our lives, or until we retire and die. Life (i.e., work) got so competitive that you have to constantly be keeping an eye and your brain on it so that you don't get left behind. Sad really. Why can't we work to better ourselves at a slow and acceptable pace?

Possible. You got me thinking about opportunities. And the general lack of them these days.

I've been wondering about this for sometime now. I'm not sure if working for yourself is the answer or not, but at least you get to call the shots.

Not exactly what I was trying to point out. There's tension and its reaching a breaking point and then I think literally, all hell will be let loose.

Your not suppose to notice that stuff till you turn 40... and it only gets worse as you get older... but I think the problem is self-centric rather than the world changing.

There was a "Free Gaza" protest here in Sydney on monday. I saw very young male kids dressed in the keffiyeh holding signs declaring their willingness to die fighting Israel. These are kids that presumably were born here, have gone to school here and yet have been filled with nothing but hate by their parents and community.

I think this is a sign of our times. Almost all contact sports, and most soccer fans, all show signs of it too. I think it is a reconciliation between our tribal instincts for dominance and a clear hierarchy, and the democratic world that we are trying hard to establish. It is a strong, instinctual part of our history as pack-animals. Take a look at domesticated dogs for a good analogy. These are dogs that have lived for generations in the care of humans, and they largely don't need their pack-instincts for survival. But if a family with a dog adopts another, that second dog must "bow down," or they won't ever get along. [[edit]] for further research, see Pantera's "Walk"

Funny, my father said the same thing to me the other night.

Meaning that I perceive the hatred and the tension that was already there?

Not exactly what I meant Josh. I mean, if we put aside the hate that's broiling away in the Arabs, locally and abroad, how many "natives" do you know of, young and old that are just really pissed off at anything and everything for nothing? That is what I meant. Not many people see that they have an opportunity in life, or at least that's what I'm seeing and that's the tension, hate and anger that I'm describing. In the end, hate is hate, regardless of what and its something that if unchecked can completely consume a person/people.

Personally I haven't never seen you display an extreme level of anger or hatred in the forums so don't worry ;). These are natural emotions in humans but dangerous indeed. They must be controlled before it gets worse. I would normally start playing Unreal Tournament III (or any other game that falls on my eyes) and chill as a strategy to let these go away. As long as you have a strategy to keep your mind off these feelings, you are happy

Speaking for myself, I've seen little of this within those that I know and those that I talk to. I've seen more weariness and frustration instead. I've seen it some from news and other sources, but little of it has been personal. Given that I've not really experienced it I can only guess, but I do wonder if part of the cause is failed expectations. Failed expectations in the world and the direction that we are going. Failed expectations of the governments and leaders. Failed expectations of friends and families. Failed expectations of ourselves. Rather, maybe not the failed expectations, but our inability to deal with them. Our inability to handle them and a loss as to where to go from there.
Some people sail through life on a bed of roses like a knife slicing through butter.
