While I agree completely that these people should have been left alone to suffer what ever fate awaited them, our society cannot have it both ways. Either we want government to come in and resuce us, which means some kind of violation of our liberties (as a rescuer the first thing I would demand is minimizing the possibility of being shot by those I'm trying to rescue), or we do not. There is simply no such thing as a civilization in which people have infinite rights to be protected by the government while also having infinite rights of being protected from that same governemnt. If you want one, you have to give up the other.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

My take away; • Weapons were confiscated at checkpoints leaving the city. • You buy a weapon to defend your family and property primarily in a time of crisis, so those that did so could not, indeed the government was their enemy. •The government (those with boots on the ground, breaking into peoples houses and beating them up) deemed that the armed citizenry was their greatest threat. • Any and all laws can be suspended by any level of government for what ever reason as long as that level of government has boots on the ground. • Because this right (gun ownership) can be suspended, you have no expectation that any other right will be honored. • You have no expectation to defend your home and property in time of crisis, indeed your enemy may be either state, local or federal governments depending who has boots on the ground. Warrants are irrelevant for entering a home, assaulting the owner and confiscating property. • The rule of law is really a guideline to be honored by those who have boots on the ground as they see fit; This case, or if I’m an illegal alien breaking into the US, law is not to be respected if it is not enforced… unless you’re the police commissioner or mayor of and you command a military force then you do what you want. • If I, lie I and my family could exit the city with out being accosted by ruling military entity and still keep my weapons to defend them.

you obviously didn't watch the video. the truly sad thing was that no one shot a cop, the concept behind the 2nd Amendment is protection against the government.

Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.
