I do not mean to be mean, and it is the foresight I was referring to. This child will need immense supervision, and who will provide it? What kind of life will it have? I am being objective, not mean.

I didn't mean you Dave. I meant the parents. Never mind that the twins only have a 20% chance of surviving, what sort of life will they have? Lie you said they will have need of immense care, most likely they'll be ostracized by the majority of their world simply because they are not "normal".

Apologies, I did read it as you saying I am uncaring. I am not uncaring, far from it. They will never have a noraml life assuming they even survive. It would be kinder and more beneficial if the mother aborted now and tried again.

And to be called "Layla" and "Kelsey" is the final straw.

Are you advocating this child/these children should be subjected to life? And no, no counselling course, just my usual caring pragmatic self.

No, it is up to the parents.

          1. Only she knows. 2. They are unlikely to survive, but probably the media. 3. Possibly like: Abigail_and_Brittany_Hensel[^]

As hateful and evil it may sound, I'm with you on that.

Why would she give birth to a mutant like this, who is going to pay for it/them and what kind of life is it/they going to have. If she had any clue as to the pain and suffering she will bring she would abort now. "But it is a gift from God"... No, it is an abberation caused by defective genes, have you been near Chernobyl? Get a grip. Here[^]

The issue I take with your argument is that we are lucky to live in a society where a child like this will be supported if they survive. Where does the line get drawn? Cleft palate, Downs Syndrome, autism, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis... the list goes on and on and leads towards eugenics or in the case of China and other countries where only the perfect 'baby' will do - infanticide. I am glad to live in a society where people with physical disabilities can be cared for. It is the same society that allows people to have the freedom to express their views as you have on this forum...

On the other hand, someone who calls himself a 'Dalek' is *surely* defective in some very important way. Think of the possibilities here!

Blimey! Lucky your parents didn't share your point of view when you wee a mere glint in your mother's eye!

If I knew then what I know today, then I'd know the same now as I did then - then what would be the point? .\\axxx (That's an 'M')
