We've been hit by a rash of...

I have been one of those hitting the "Remove Message" icon. Presumably others have joined me in my quest to remove the sanctimonious, insulting, self-inflationary git from the site planet.

You've no idea how tempting it was to hit Vote to Remove Message!

I meant pressing it for the OP! Pressing it on Idiot's isn't tempting, it's an obligation.

Fixed that for you. . . According to John S (and when has he ever been wrong?) it takes 13 "remove" votes to eliminate a post.

That'll be me. The 'Vote to remove message' link should be renamed 'Ilion' just for the Soapbox. He's shown that he cannot post intelligently, (although I enjoy his articles) so he does not deserve to be able to post at all

Er! While I appreciate your feelings, isn't that a form of censorship ? P.S. How many votes does it take to remove a post ? I clicked on one post to test it and "poof" it went to "Message Automatically Removed". Now I am scared to click on another one :suss:

Unknown but several. I'd guess a half dozenish but don't know and it could be weighted by rank like normal voting.

No. Only a government can censor anything - i.e. forbid it from being published anywhere any time. This is a private site with a private owner. He has every right to determine what happens, how it happens and when it happens. In this case, he has chosen to make available to the users of his site a way of throwing out the trash, without pestering him to do it. No one here has kept Troy from posting whatever his little heart and smaller mind want to post - anywhere else. q.e.d. not censorship :)
