My desktop computer is a few years old and the drive is only 111 GB, not bad for when I bought it, but it's been running between 80 and 90% full lately. Last week Fry's had a 1 TB Maxtor on sale for $105 so I grabbed one. I got around to installing it today and it went fairly smoothly. Only about an hour and I didn't get all stressed, sweaty, learn any new swear words, or leave bits of flesh inside the computer. :-D Had to boot twice to hit the right key to turn on the drive in the bios, then the install software didn't want to load, but looking at the documentation reminded me that Maxtor is now part of Seagate and I'd installed their software to format another drive. Once I figured that out, ran the software, it came up and said I see you have an empty drive, would you like for me to take care of that for you? Duh, well fuck yes! Then it was sweet looking at 1,000,000,000,000+ bytes free. :)
