Just make them swear to not bring politics or something like that. I have an uncle who is a glass half empty leftist type of guy (and I hate to label people like that). He loves to engage me since I loathe the democratic and republican parties equally. It got to the point that I just told him that I respect him but I will never agree with all of his opinions or his political views so, please can we stop having the same damn conversation over and over again. From that point on he has pretty much chilled out. You might give it a try with the family that wants to argue with you.

Sovereign ingredient for a happy marriage: Pay cash or do without. Interest charges not only eat up a household budget; awareness of debt eats up domestic felicity. --Lazarus Long

Politics! Sheesh it's religion, sports, (local and national), the local school system (both public and private), my brother routinely challenges everyone to festivous (barbells in the basement). But boxed wine, and a case of beer makes everything better.

Ok, half my family are flaming conservatives, the other half flaming liberals. Wow, such passion on "what are you doing right now'.... of course the flaming liberals are so f...ck'n wrong. Really, should see whats being posted right now! But I will still invite them to the family barbeque if they can get over the co2 footprint of the roosted pig, chicken and cow I will be roasting!... but that's in 5 months...

Facebook is a void. There's no value added there, except the loss of one's privacy.

This may be one of the few times I've found myself agreeing with you. I've been simply amazed that people are drawn to sites like Facebook then go about posting anything and everything about themselves.

I have a web site, if you searched for my real name in quotes on Google my site would be on page 9. Since I setup a facebook page which has a link to my web site, a search on my real name (quotes or not) would bring up my facebook page as #1 on page one, and my web site is second item on page one. Not disagreeing with you, just saying from a marketing perspective... In addition it's great for communicating with friends and relatives far away.

Coulter wins, no doubt about it. None of the others is sufficiently vicious to beat her.

good grief. I think she's a kick butt author (love the way she makes the left spin) but I think she looks like a blond broom on stilts.
