The GBP is in the mid-to-high sixties[^] against the Rupee. :omg: With the country officially in a recession, the only news I see coming out of Britain is bad news, and I've seen more than one source say Britain is close to bankruptcy! :wtf: Now I know what Lauren meant when she said it was easy to know who the tourists in London were because they were the only ones smiling! The last time I remember seeing a conversion rate in the sixties was in my school days! I'm glad I exchanged my English money when the rates were in the low-to-mid 80s.

    Cheers, Vıkram.

I've never ever worked anywhere where there has not been someone who given the choice I would not work with again. It's a job, you do your work, put up with the people you don't like, accept there are probably people there that don't like you a lot, and look forward to the weekends.   - Josh Gray.

That was probably put out by some jerk-trader who was shorting sterling: we are still AAA rated. Actually, the only ones smiling are the hotels, street vendors and shops taking money off the tourists! :-)

Claims like these are generally exaggerated, and I doubt the UK will actually go bust, but this recession is serious. 1[^] 2[^] 3[^]

Speak of exchange rates... I sure wish I'd bought a sack full of yen when it was 140 to the dollar... I'm in need of yen now, and last I looked the dollar is under 90 yen now. When everybody is sliding down hill, it's hard to tell which ship to jump to.

Heard the joke going around in Ireland? What's the difference between Iceland and Ireland? One letter and about six months. :sigh: At least the Irish are better placed to tackle the crisis, they are within the Eurozone.

              Cheers, Vıkram.
