Father killed on way to hospital to see newly born baby[^] If this person is found guilty I'd pull the lever myself! I'd gladly join the queue should I not be quick enough just so I could dance on his carcass.

Would you be in favor of the death penalty if you didn't know he was on the way to the hospital? I guess the question is, other than an emotional reaction, does that make the crime more heinous? The other thing that seems odd...if he was focused on getting to the hospital to see his baby, why did he take the time to get into an argument? He should have kept walking. That said, I am for the death penalty, but it shouldn’t be based on emotion.

It should be based on absolute surety of guilt?

If he was not going to see his new baby it would be less of a crime ? you're a thug.

If the killer was out on the streets with a blade then as far as I am concerned he deserves to die if he kills someone with it. The problem with this country is that the consequences of people's actions don't seem to play a part in any punishment. The UK is far too soft regarding crime.

I was called a thug by a Frenchman a day or two ago. Welcome to the club. I think "thug" means something like not being willing to surrender at the first sign of a threat.

So then you agree that where he was coming from and where he was going shouldn't enter into a determination of punishment? If he had been going to meet his girlfriend while his wife was in the hospital, he would still deserve the death penalty?

Oh yes. Knife crime is becoming rife in the UK and the toerags who do it rarely get, in my yes, an adequate punishment. Maybe if your "crew" started taking permanent casualties(rather than kudos at being banged up) it may encourage them to start behaving like decent human beings. If it doesn't then at least it will have removed some of them off the streets for ever.

I would have thought that a progressive country like the UK would have knife control laws preventing law abiding citizens from having knives thereby preventing the thugs from using them.

That's a joke right? Didn't see the icon. That isn't progressive. Next we'll need to ban hammers and screwdrivers. And don't forget to ban pencils and pens. You can very easily jab on into the neck.

Considering that most of your recent posts are about killing someone I'm starting to agree with this characterization.
