    I would say that in general shrinks are even more in the dark.

      Not KSS? I dunno it is only about someone with a medical condition that has been cured(?) I just think it odd that they would consider such action at that age. Perhaps one of the Hamsters would be kind enough to move it across?

      Perhaps not a bad idea, SUGGESTIONS perhaps. Not exactly censorship, but Alternate Location.

      I just wish we'd stop claiming we are protecting our kid sisters (mine is in her 50's) and admit we are protecting our less sophisticated members.

        As long as the shrinks are willing to sign off on it, I don't have a problem with it. We can redesign a persons plumbing, we can't rewire their brain (setting aside the ethical question of if we should).

        Can't really do that either. It's cosmetic surgery and hormone therapy; more "Pimp My Ride" than "Monster Garage". I can't help but think this will end up in the textbooks right next to ice-pick lobotomies and bloodletting.

          I think I have been misread. I did not ask for censorship, just to move the thread to the soapbox where it belongs. There is nothing so big there, and given I have been generously 1 voted, I do not feel I am the one overreacting there. This thread is not KSS, and I think some members also apply the OS or CS rule (office safe or cubicle safe). Since when using the soapbox is considered censorship? :doh: How about those members who systematically get 1 voted, or even more, automatically removed. Now, that is censorship. Quite different from using the soapbox, isn't it?

          No, it isn't. Censorship is when the government determines what can and cannot be published or displayed. This website is private property. The rules about what should be posted here are ultimately in the hands of Chris and he can delete any and or all posts made here without doing anything but exercising his right to control his property. He has chosen, for reasons that are good and suffient to him, to delegate some of that power to the members of this site. He has given the members a tool that allows us to vote to make troll-posts and posting-trolls go away. If enough of us vote in favor of deleting someone's message then it disappears into the void. Because Chris wants it that way. So, if you have a problem with deleting messages, take it up with Chris. tell him he's not running his website to your satisfaction - and let me know how that works for you, OK? As to being 1-voted: tell it to the hand.

              No I do not. I was just stressing the fact my request to move a thread to the soapbox was rather inocuous, and was no censorship at all. And my point was it was less important than deleting someone's message(s), so thank you for feeding my mill, as you are saying even this is no censorship.

              I was just saying people (at least some of them) had expressed copiously their thought about my post. And how about the suggestion of adding a voting button similar to the "Remove this message", but like "Move this thread to the soapbox"?

                Awright, so I will do some real profanities then, and this thread will be moved to the soapbox.

                void func()
                {
                ::MessageBox(NULL, L"func", L"", MB_OK);
                }

                void func1()
                {
                ::MessageBox(NULL, L"func1", L"", MB_OK);
                }

                void func2()
                {
                ::MessageBox(NULL, L"func2", L"", MB_OK);
                }

                void (*metafunc1())()
                {
                return func;
                }

                void (*metafunc2())()
                {
                return func1;
                }

                void (*metafunc3())()
                {
                return func2;
                }

                void main()
                {
                void (*(*ptr[])())() =
                {
                metafunc1,
                metafunc2,
                metafunc3
                };

                (\*ptr\[0\])()();
                (\*ptr\[1\])()();
                (\*ptr\[2\])()();

                }

                So is this rude enough now ? I can do worse if you are not convinced.

                      But if it makes a person feel better about themselves, gives them more confidence, how is that any different than any other elective cosmetic surgery?

                        It isn't. That's kinda my point, regardless of how the subjects feel about themselves afterward - it is entirely superfluous, like getting a face lift or dying your hair. Somewhat more destructive of course, but no less pointless. If an adult wants to put themselves through that out of hope for some nebulous sense of self, then whatever; adults do all sorts of bizarre things to themselves trying to find happiness... a few even claim to have actually managed it. But to subject or encourage an adolescent in your care to such an operation... that seems cruel, bordering on malicious. I caught an interview a few weeks back with some guy whose step-mom had him lobotomized when he was 12. Chilling stuff. He doesn't blame her, sounded almost to have blamed himself for being such an unruly child as to have left her with little choice. We have, i believe, an almost limitless ability to justify and encourage the brutal aspects of our nature, shrouding our true motivations in the noblest of words. It is only after time fades these words into quaint anachronisms that we recognize our predecessors' bestial acts for what they were.
