There is a fellow that is suing the government for information on how the TARP funds are being spent. Jerry[^] is the fellow in question. He's not asking for money in the suit. He's volunteered at Katrina, Ground Zero, Lake Charles, never asked for anything. His website cause is to get more males involved in nursing, not a porn site. He's an ex military person and not a liberal. Now on to my point: He's tried to get onto Rush's show and was called unamerican by the screener. He tried Hannity's show and was asked if he was an angry liberal. Is this the meme of conservatives for attempting to find out how the banks are spending the trillions of taxpayer money they have? The reason I ask is there is a lot of uproar about Obama's plan, and those same conservative voices have applied the same to the TARP program, yet in the media conservatives seem to apply selective outrage. TARP funds setup by Bush is American, but Obama's is Socialist. Anyone have any views on what exactly the conservative position is on this subject?

Government is bad. Government's with control are worse. Rather than deal with the current economic issue of divide, control, and conquer or better put, "Why waste a crisis?" let's focus on the past. National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 was used by the Federal Government to Mandate the legal drinking age by controlling funds. National Firearms Act of 1934 the government could not ban firearms but could withhold the tax stamp. No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 the government can withhold federal funds from schools that do not comply with the DOE These are just three quick examples of how the Government has used money, taken from taxpayers by force, to dictate domestic policy where they would not constitutionally have jurisdiction. Beyond the government ceasing power aspect, I am concerned anytime money is printed to support a system that was unsupportable.

The prudent, proven, and common-sense position. Obviously, that excludes the shrill name-calling that has become the hallmark of big-C Conservatism.
On the subject of wanting to know how our funds are being spent then it appears by your definition that this person, Jerry, should have been embraced since he is only asking for prudent, proven, common-sense information. How is our money being spent? My question is why is he called unamerican by the conservative radio call screeners for asking something that seems should be supported by them? Funny that this question gets uni-voted. Apparently its a personality vote.

Its only as good as we are. So you are saying that we the people are bad. But that is entirely NOT the point of my post. Maybe I should clarify, I'm wondering why this person who has a valid concern, is called unamerican for suing the government only to find out how our money is being spent. Its a lawsuit for information only. Yet the conservative radio call screener has either called him unamerican or asked him if he is an angry liberal. So, is it only angry liberals that want to know how our money is being spent by the banks?

Yeah, that's why i stopped calling myself a "conservative" a few years back, to avoid the risk that someone would confuse me with the big-C variety. If you've noticed, the big-Cs are all about bigger government and spending money, and especially enlarging government to spend money on things that help them to consolidate power. In short, it's not so much a philosophy or ideology as it is a loosely-affiliated political organization... and like all political organizations, its first and primary goal is to put its own into positions of power using whatever means necessary.

Bush was just about the only "conservative" that thought TARP was a good American idea. OK, I exagerate, a minority of TARP voters were Republicans, all of which have highly pissed off constituencies now. I can't answer for the call screeners at either show, but I'm fairly certain that Rush and Hannity would have applauded this guys efforts, as do I. Oh yeah, and Uh-bama is a socialist. :-D

I'm trying to determine if that qualifies for Shog's observation. Did you type that shrilly? Perhaps you have a Shrill keyboard? Maybe the new pres will launch some military operations/invasions and you can call him "I'll bomb ya". Remember the higher the death toll the more we reduce the species dependency on food, water and oxygen.

Isn't that the norm for those stupid programs. All they do is characterize the callers as stupid liberals or smart conservatives. Both of the shows are incredibly stupid more for entertainment than anything. Bush / Obama are more the same than different.

Exactly! It is all about getting one group outraged at another. It is all mindless dribble... There is no "educated discourse" on the radio or TV and very little in print or on the internet for that matter.

I don't believe it.
Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Good catch, I believe it does. I do have a keyboard that's somewhat on the shrill side.

Yeah, I'll be watching for that... State side. But then I assume I'll have to call him what he dictates and not something of my own invention. Till then, I'll split my addresses between Uh-bama (especially after his painful speaking engagements), Obamessiah, and Obamanation.
