Some people deserve killing Christian, you live on an island. Your only near neighbors are pretty much the same as you are ethnically, socially, every which way. Although you've had some racial violence, you haven't got the slightest idea what it's like to share a border with a country that is so corrupt that the police either work hand-in-glove with the crooks or they get decapitated. Where running gun-battles over "turf" often spill over into your country. You haven't the slightest idea what it would be like to be invaded by 20 million illegals who are loyal to a foreign power - or the proportional equivalent in numbers. MS13 - composed of South and Central Americans has 50,000 members in this country and are known to be armed as well as the average infantry platoon.

Of course it's poverty. Luckily there are no poor white people in the US. A white skin guarantees a yearly remittance from the Ku Klux Klan of a quarter of a million dollars. Everybody knows that.

By the army or police, perhaps.

Not so. Apart from NZ, which isn't a real country, our near neighbours include native islands with cannibals, asian countries full of extremist Muslims, and so on.

Yes, on this front, you are right. And yet, your government does nothing about it, because these are the people that grease the wheels of your industry.

I would suspect that most are only loyal to themselves. Again, this is your governments issue, and arming the populace will not solve it.

Well, white people are less likely to be exploited the way that your illegals are. I would imagine that the white people dying in those stats you posted, are also mostly poor, but poverty is not equally distributed, there's no denying that.

If I did, I was either in the US, or I was being sarcastic. Let me rephrase that, a couple of weeks ago, I was in the US, but I assume I was being sarcastic when I said it.

The discussion was about the price of houses in certain parts of Australia some said, maybe not you, that one area with cheap housing meant you had to put up with lots of gunfire.

Well almost... Criminals who obtain an illegal gun are an issue for those who choose not to own one.

Yes, I guess that will continue to be more likely to occur in the US than it is here, for a time at least.

In any case, ownership without accident requires some responsibility to safety, which of course is a task many people aren't up to

So, you'd pass this apparently new test, then. I'd imagine most people would, I mean gun deaths are surely a small % of gun owners.

What the bill suggests are mostly good ideas. With the likes of Peloci and company in positions of power, I don't like the idea of the government knowing much about my ownership. I know how that sounds, and all of your arguements are sound. Most of the opposition to these kinds of bills is base (I think) on the perception that they are intended to chip away at our right to own. What they should concentrate on, and come to think of it I've never seen anything about, is how people come by illegal guns. Which I think account for a majority of gun injuries and deaths. I guess it's our own national arms race. You're right, it doesn't make much sense to perpetuate.

OK - then I was just being sarcastic. I just meant that you have to live somewhere with crappy neighbours ( and you may well get mugged ) if you go to a cheaper area.

About $100, in ammo... Pretty much wiped out WalMart's stash. ;) But seriously, since the "stimulus" will do nothing for the economy, I'm expecting a complete collapse which will leave us with a hefty food shortage. Hopefully it won't be that bad, but who knows at this point; better safe than sorry. And there's not much to hunt in the arm pit of Texas. Course, once food gets scarce, I expect a lot of dogs and cats to be put out to fend for themselves. I'll have a little harder time eating them.

A lady I know in Texas runs a rescue operation - 29 cats, 12 dogs, assorted geese, possums, ducks, etc. Don't go near her place thinking what you are thinking. She's packing and has a license to carry concealed.

Actually, I was reading something written by a guy who worked several disasters in the national guard. He was suggesting that once food starts to run short, people will let their pets go to fend for themselves believing that it will be better for the pet. If a lot of that happens, dogs will gather in packs that will likely start attacking people, and cats of course are notorious hunters that will quickly deplete what game there is. He was saying that if you do find yourself in a prolonged food shortage situation, you'll have to get used to killing cats and dogs on sight. Makes sense. Course, eating those you kill does too. I would dislike killing dogs more, but for some reason I think they'd be easier for me to eat than a nasty cat. Hopefully I'll never have to find out.
