The current news is that the captain jumped over board again creating an opening for US forces.

I think the US got exactly what they wanted in Obama, Lord help us. Whatever Bush's fault were, the inability to make a decision (right or wrong) wasn't one of them. I guess I will wait and see what Obama does...he hasn't impressed me thus far.

No questioning the size of Richard Phillips'. And three cheers for everyone in the chain of command who told the Navy not to let another opportunity go by. If that includes Obama - and my guess is that it does - then good on him! Carter continues to stand alone, for which I am grateful.

So. it turns out the early stories of Capt. Phillips diving over again were jus tmedia invention. Instead if was a planned and set Seal Team kill by snipers. Doesn't reduce in any way Phillip's heroism in the whole scene, but does make you sound like a bad case of sour grapes. I don't agree with most of Obama's politics or actions either, but I am willing to give him credit for having the sense to let the Military do what they could.

You could be right. I defended Obama quite vehemently after his election against those who said he was a socialist, inexperienced, and would use the financial crisis as an opportunity to change our way of life. Even after the stimulus package was unveiled, I insisted it was Pelosi, not Obama picking our pockets and that he would not allow it to be such a blatant payback to the Democratic base. I'm sure you can imagine my chagrin as time went on and he turned out to be everything Stan predicted - and more. I really hate having to admit I was wrong - though I can do it which is more than I can say for some posters. So, perhaps it is a little hard for me to give him credit these days. I tend to follow the old maxim about "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Nonetheless, there's no doubt about it, the operation was a success and everyone in the chain of command deserves kudos.
