I think the US got exactly what they wanted in Obama, Lord help us. Whatever Bush's fault were, the inability to make a decision (right or wrong) wasn't one of them. I guess I will wait and see what Obama does...he hasn't impressed me thus far.

As Rob says, credit where credit is due. By the way: if you'll let this old reprobate say it to you: Happy Easter!

The forces had to be close at hand and have permission to go. Carter had forces close, and chickened out (for 3 f'n years).

I did give proper credit, the captain has balls. Obama has a dog named Bo.

Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. I figure Obama has sought advice from Johnny Depp on dealing with pirates and has the General muzzled in the basement somewhere.

And he is probably writing an apology note to the pirates as we speak.

So. it turns out the early stories of Capt. Phillips diving over again were jus tmedia invention. Instead if was a planned and set Seal Team kill by snipers. Doesn't reduce in any way Phillip's heroism in the whole scene, but does make you sound like a bad case of sour grapes. I don't agree with most of Obama's politics or actions either, but I am willing to give him credit for having the sense to let the Military do what they could.

Sometimes the best thing a boss can do is stay the hell out of the way. Obama released control of the Seals and as a result we had what some people are calling a picture-perfect operation. One shot - one kill <- Sniper Motto. Three shots - three kills <- End of Story.

Even Fox News gave Obama credit last night for a job well done.

                      This statement is false

It must really pain you to credit Obama with anything. Yep, sour grapes, although I expected it more from Mike than you, but maybe your independent stance is a ruse.

Not at all. I am relieved every time he does something right.

You could be right. I defended Obama quite vehemently after his election against those who said he was a socialist, inexperienced, and would use the financial crisis as an opportunity to change our way of life. Even after the stimulus package was unveiled, I insisted it was Pelosi, not Obama picking our pockets and that he would not allow it to be such a blatant payback to the Democratic base. I'm sure you can imagine my chagrin as time went on and he turned out to be everything Stan predicted - and more. I really hate having to admit I was wrong - though I can do it which is more than I can say for some posters. So, perhaps it is a little hard for me to give him credit these days. I tend to follow the old maxim about "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Nonetheless, there's no doubt about it, the operation was a success and everyone in the chain of command deserves kudos.
