51% View Tea Parties Favorably, Politicos Strongly Disagree
-
After a few days of trash-talking by the left; as much negative publicity as MSNBC and CNN could muster; and as the piece de resistance, Jeanne Garofalo characterization, in prime time, of everyone who attended a Tea Party as a racist, Rasmussen has released a poll that show that more Americans viewed the tea parties positively than those who didn't plus those who had no opinion combined. One particular group did not like the tea parties at all, at all. It seems that 5:6 folks who trust the judgment of the public less than political leaders, do not view the federal government as a special interest group and refuse to believe that big business and big government work together against the interests of investors and consumers, did not like the Tea Parties. According to Rasumssen these people can be considered part of the "political class." I would assume it consists primarily of people who work in government. The timing of all this foofarah over alleged torture that would have happened six or seven years ago is interesting in light of Rasmussen's confirmation that more people than not are unhappy with the ever-increasing spendthrift attitudes that have been prevalent in Washington this last twenty years. If everybody will start yelling about trials and impeachment (pro and con) then perhaps there will be less debate about the steps being taken by the Congress and White House - apparently something the political class would strongly approve of. source[^]

what do you think they'll say after we descend on DC on 7-4-2009?
Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.

The worst thing I saw at the one in Indy was some confused libertarians. ;P
Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

I'm not sure whether or not you considered the fact that this poll is meaningless since roughly 40% of the population pay -0- income taxes and in fact a sizable number actually get a return ("earned income credit") in excess of what they've paid in, a handout. So why wouldn't we be just happier than pigs in shit when we answer a pollster?

I think that my taxes are fairly apportioned and, at the moment, not outrageously high. Indeed, I argued for higher taxes during the occupation of Iraq - as long as it was clear that the money would go to better supporting the armed services. However, I am, and always have been, worried about and critical of Obama's impact on the quality of life for my kids and grandkids - as I was about the tax-cut-and-spend policies of Bush. As a result, I could be counted among the 60% in the Gallup Poll and the 51% in the Rasmussen. I'm sorry if this upsets some black and white view of the world, but there it is. :-D

How does that translate to meaningless? Don't they get a vote? Isn't the fact that they don't pay income tax a very good indicator that those 40% aren't paying too much?
