Aren't we all glad that alleged-president Hopey-Changey has "restored America's standing in the world?" BrisbaneTimes: America will not protect us, warns Rudd[^] Still, perhaps it's ultimately to the good that America not shoulder most of the financial and military burden of keeping barbarism at bay. I mean, the American "hegemony" does appear to infantilize its beneficiaries.

Get a clue. Rudd's comments have nothing to do with "America's standing in the world". They have to do with the changing balance of economic and hence military power. Rudd is one of Obama's biggest fans. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25239739-5013871,00.html[^] http://www.smh.com.au/world/we-have-few-better-friends-than-australia-20090409-a26e.html[^]
